Pooch's Paradise

We tried to take Coco to the dog park today but it started raining - shocking, i know - so instead of coming home we took her up to the North Shore for a stroll on the beach. 42 days til we leave Hawaii....

Coco and Charlie admiring the view.

Rachel and Aidan; you can tell we weren't prepared for the beach.

The mountains across the street from the beach. Gorgeous.

Waimea Falls

We can check one more thing off our "To Do Before We Leave Hawaii" list; we saw a waterfall today. Charlie, Aidan and Rachel even swam in the pond around it (the water wasn't the clear blue that I like, so I played photographer). The whole experience was great; to get to the falls you walk through Waimea Valley and its very tropical. It was a nice reminder that Hawaii really is a beautiful place once you leave our dreary and rainy post in the mountains.

We saw a few peacocks and that was an unexpected bonus.

On our way up to the falls.
It was all really gorgeous.

It was so sunny! I know the picture is too bright but it's been so cloudy and yucky for months I just can't bring myself to darken it, lol.

Rachel loved the hike up.

Swimming at the falls.

Aidan loved it!

Rachel was very proud of herself.

Charlie out by the falls

Warming up; the water was cold.

Me and the falls.

Afterwards we stopped for some pineapple ice cream. Yum!

Moving: Part One

Our movers came today! YAY! Step one of moving is finally done. The guys who packed us up were great and it was probably the only time we'll have a mover who wears flip flops (I mean slippahs, LOL) - we'll have to add that to our list of Hawaiian experiences.
I am so happy that we are finally really, truly in the process of moving!

This is our awesome aloha couch and chair that we get to use until we move.

Easter

We had a really nice Easter this year. It was the first holiday Charlie was home for since Thanksgiving 2007 so we were grateful to spend it to together. We sent the kids on a scavenger hunt around the house to find their baskets. It was fun to watch them run all over the house - I think we will make this a new tradition. After they found their baskets and hunted eggs, we had lunch with our neighbors Jennifer and Jock and their kids. We wrapped the day up with a trip to the park for kite flying and a Nerf War which was awesome.

The Lemonade Stand

In preparation for our move, we had a yard sale on Saturday. Rachel has been asking about a lemonade stand for weeks so we set one up for her. She was soooo cute (and a little standoffish) selling her lemonade. She made $9 selling 25 cent lemonades in just a few hours - which she spent on a manicure later that afternoon. =)

Our little entrepreneur

Charlie filled in during Rachel's potty break - he didn't make any sales, lol.

Beach Sunset # 458

We went to watch the sunset at Ko Olina .. blah, blah, blah. After over three years here, we are sooo beached out!

It was too cold to swim for long so it was kids vs dads.
Charlie fireman-carried Aidan all the way to the water.

It was our last Hawaiian sunset excursion with the Taylors before they abandoned us (I mean moved back to Georgia, LOL).
Luckily we're right on their heels! Aloooooha!!

Spring Break Blah

We haven't done much over Spring Break this year - the weather's been too cold for the beach and we've done pretty much everything else on the island. There was a car show in Honolulu last weekend so Charlie took Aidan and went with Jason and his two boys to check it out.

Aidan with Jonathan and Austin in a bug.

We love GEICO!

We took the kids to see Monsters vs Aliens 3D today - it was expensive! It cost $40 just for admission to the movie. It was the first 3D movie for all of us. Aidan thought it was great. Rachel was overwhelmed - there were a lot of space ships and it was a loud movie. It was a pretty neat experience but I'm not sure we'll do it again.
Looking awesome in their 3D glasses
