Day of Fun

Last Saturday the Boys and Girls Club sponsored a "Day of Fun" for all the kids on post - and it was pretty great. There were lots of different activities and crafts and best of all it was free.

Signs of Fall

Fall is coming and we are all VERY excited to see our first season change in four years. The leaves are starting to change and we are already breaking out our hoodies. YAY!

The other morning, Rachel and I watched some deer playing in our backyard - I don't think that will ever get old. And seeing the colors change on the leaves is just awesome.



Is that a bunny? An overgrown squirrel? Nope - that is a groundhog and there are tons of them here. We saw three the other day at the kid's school. I know the picture is fuzzy - I need a camera with a better zoom.

First Falcons Game

Aidan had his first game with the Falcons last week. This team is much smaller (we had five players at our first game) than the others he has played on so it is a much different experience. He was a little upset his team didn't win and frustrated that the other team didn't seem to know the rules - it was pretty funny to watch him telling the other team to back up off the line of scrimmage. But overall he had fun playing and we're looking forward to the rest of his games this season.

Aidan's 7th Birthday

We celebrated Aidan's 7th birthday on Friday. It is hard to believe that he is already 7 ... where has the time gone?

Birthday cupcakes with his class. They sang happy birthday to him but he ducked down to "fix my chair" while they were singing. It was really cute to see him act shy.


Aidan is really into the WWE and wrestling so we had a WWE party for him this year .. I made his wrestling ring cake myself =)

Saunders Springs

Saturday morning we decided to go do a little hiking and check out Saunders Springs - a nature preserve near Fort Knox. It is a beautiful, wooded area and we had a good time checking out the lake and walking the trails. Unfortunately it is also tick infested - we pulled over 20 ticks off Rachel when we got home (and that is not an exaggeration). I'm not sure why she had so many - Aidan had two, I had one, and somehow Charlie escaped with none. Regardless that will be our last hike until winter when all the ticks go away - my skin is crawling just thinking about it.

Patton Museum

On Friday we went to check out the Patton Museum on Fort Knox. I have never seen so many tanks - American tanks, German tanks, Korean tanks, Iraqi tanks, amphibious tanks, and more that I can't remember right now. Thanks to Charlie, our personal tour guide, we learned a lot about tanks. It was really cool to be able to see - and show the kids - the tank that Charlie was on while he was deployed to Iraq in 2004-2005.

There was a section for OIF - it is really amazing to see those exhibits and know that Charlie was a part of it.


Outside they have several tanks on display. We were trying to figure out which ones my Papa would've been on when he served - there were several there from the 1940's.

Charlie's Boo Boo

Wednesday Charlie wiped out while he was doing sprints at PT. He had a nice gash over his left eye; luckily they were able to just glue it back together instead of stitching him up.

I almost passed out when he walked in and had blood all over him.
And despite all that blood, Aidan noticed the tiny bandaid over his eye, LOL.

Falcons Football

Aidan has started another season of flag football, this season he is on the Falcons. Charlie has been enjoying taking him to practice and working with him on his catching and throwing. I can't wait to see his first game in a few weeks.
