Louisville Zoo

For our first outing in Louisville we decided to try the zoo. It was pretty awesome and we had a great time. They have more than just animals - we went on a SkyTrail course with the kids, there is a splash park but it was too cold for them to play in it (who would think July would be too cold for anything - we had to buy Rachel a tshirt because she was cold in her tank top), but they did get to ride a zoo carousel and play at an awesome playground. The animal exhibits are really great too - and we got to see all the animals; except the elephants, but for some reason we always miss them.

The SkyTrail course was pretty cool. It is a ropes course with different levels and bridges that you cross over; it starts off about 20' in the air. Aidan and Rachel swore they could do it - and then Aidan got up there and freaked out, lol. He was going to quit but one of the workers gave him a peptalk and convinced him he wouldn't fall so he tried again - and he did really great. Rachel didn't have any major meltdowns but she was definitely nervous while we were up there. So was I, I hate heights (the crap you do for your kids!).

Charlie and Aidan about to take on the SkyTrail.

Aidan doing it by himself!

Rachel and I - you can tell she was scared but she did it.

We made it!

King Louie - the albino alligator.
Not something you see every day, lol.

Charlie and the kids checking out the penguins.

We finished up around 5:30 and I guess by then the animals were ready for some rest - most of them were either sleeping or laying down.

And finally finishing up our day with a spin on the zoo carousel.
