Slugger Sunday

Yesterday we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum - what a cool place. They took us on a tour of the factory where they make all their bats and we even got to see several bats that are being made for MLB players. I was worried that Aidan and Rachel would be bored with the tour but they loved it. After the tour we checked out some of their exhibits and Charlie hit some balls in the batting cages.

This bat is outside, I think I read it's five stories tall. It's huge!




Charlie got to hold one of Mickey Mantle's bats. It's the real thing so he had to wear gloves.

After the Slugger Museum we went to a Louisville Bats game. It was the first baseball game Aidan and Rachel had been to and the first for me and Charlie in a really long time. And it was great! The kids sat in the grass behind the outfield and Rachel tried so hard to get one of the player's attention to throw her a ball - it was hilarious she was waving her arms and yelling "hey number seven! number seven!" He probably would've thrown her one but she never did it when he had the ball between innings. On Sundays, kids get to run the bases after the game but last night's game went into extra innings so we couldn't wait; we left in the 12th inning.

As we were leaving we saw Jake the Diamond Dog - which was great because the kids were upset about not running the bases.


Jake was the bat boy - very cool.
